Valsartan is used for the treatment of non-organ-related high blood pressure (so called essential or primary hypertension).

Effect of valsartan

Valsartan belongs to the drug group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists. The drug blocks the binding site for the blood pressure-boosting hormone Angiotensin II in vascular muscle cells. This angiotensin can dock no longer II, absence of a contraction of blood vessels and increasing blood pressure.
