Natural medicine

Natural medicine is the study of the treatment and prevention of diseases using natural and remedies from the natural environment.

These include the physical stimuli such as light, air, heat and cold, movement and rest, but also forms of nutrition and natural and herbal active ingredients (phytotherapy). Psychological and social influences which are plumbed in discussion and advice on lifestyle are just as important.

Naturopathy is often confused with homeopathy. But in fact, natural healing is an umbrella term for various methods of treatment, which draw on natural resources, to treat disease or to bring about an improvement of Allgemeinbefindens.

Some are also aspects of traditional Chinese medicine or included from the Ayurveda treatment.

Basics

Naturopathy was built on the foundations of the national medicine, and was refined with scientific methods. Homeopathy is usually counted not to naturopathy; It forms its own system, which was developed on a completely different basis of the similarity rule and the exponentiation of active substances. Naturopath rely on physical stimuli (light, air, heat, cold, movement/rest) and plant ingredients.

Coined the term naturopathy immediately by the physician Lorenz in 1848. The traditional naturopathy, as she for example the medical layman Pastor Sebastian tested Kneipp to itself, is based on five pillars:

  • Phytotherapy: Use of plant active substances for the treatment of diseases and health disorders
  • Hydrotherapy: Kneipp water applications developed for thermal and cold stimulation of organism
  • Movement Therapy: active physical activity, such as walking or gymnastics, improving circulatory
  • Nutritional therapy: Support of treatments through a full, natural diet and the clinical picture customized diet
  • Regulation therapy: balanced lifestyle at regular intervals and in accordance with nature

This typical form of natural healing, one speaks also of classic naturopathy.

Self-healing powers

One of the basic thoughts in naturopathy, is relying on the healing powers of the body, which the body can cure diseases even. As a result of this self-healing, the body reacts with fever or resigns from harmful substances on the skin or gut.

This self-healing powers alone can work and not suppressed or interrupted is crucial for naturopathic treatments.

Body, mind and soul

Naturopath look at not only the disease in patients, but capture him as a unity of body, mind and soul.
